Standards and Quality Report

School Improvement Plan

Next week you will receive a copy of the school Standards and Quality Report and the School Improvement Plan. These documents let you know about some of last year’s the successes and achievements and the areas in which we hope to improve this year.

Parents’  Night

Our Parents’ Evening will be on Thursday 12th October. Please fill in the reply slip to ensure your appointment with your child’s teacher. Please try to make every effort to come to Parents’ Evening so that you can learn about your child’s progress.


Parent Council

Thanks to all the parents/carers who have joined the Parent Council. This group provides parents with a chance to voice their suggestions for school improvement and learn about the wider life of the school. The next meeting is Tuesday 10th November at 3:15pm.


Holidays during Term Time.

Recently there has been an increase in parents wishing to take their children out of school during term time to visit family and friends abroad. I would ask you not to do this  to avoif  disruption to your child’s education. Holidays should be booked during the school holiday period. Extended visits to foreign countries should only be in exceptional circumstances.


School Entrance

Primary 4 to Primary 7 pupils should enter by the back gates on Prince Edward Street or the side gate on Craigie Street at 9am. This is to keep the front entrance clear for Primary 1 to 3 children who come into school at 8:55am.

Cake’n’ Candy for Macmillan Cancer

There will be a cake ‘n’ candy  on Friday 29th September to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Please hand in any home-baking first thing on Friday morning.  Thanks to Primary 7 for organising the event.

Eco Week  and Non –Uniform Day

Next week is Eco Week in St Bride’s. Thanks to the Eco Team pupils and  teachers who have put a lot of effort into organising a variety of trips and learning experiences.  Friday 6th October will be a ‘Wear Green’  non-uniform day. Please bring in £1 for school funds.

Dr Rabbit and the Tooth Defenders!

This week children from P1 to P3 will receive a free toothbrush and toothpaste kit from Dr Rabbit and the Tooth Defenders. Please encourage your children to brush their teeth at least twice a day and avoid sugary snacks and drinks.

Pupil Leadership Team

Congratulations to the following pupils who were voted by their classmates and teachers to become the Pupil Leadership Team.

Head Boy – Elesei Pismas

Head Girl – Alina Raja

Prefects – Giovanni Piacentini, Shahzeb Shoaib, Sarah Buksh and Annamaria Muntean.


Congratulations to all the pupils who have been elected to the following Pupil Groups: Health and Well-Being Group, Pupil Council, Enterprise Team, Eco Schools and Rights Respecting Schools Team.

We know these pupils will represent themselves and St Bride’s through their hard working attitude and positive behaviour.

Diversity Awards

I am delighted to tell you that the school has been short-listed for the ‘Diversity in Education Awards’ by the Glasgow Herald. This award acknowledges some of the important work we do in the  Govanhill area to promote diversity and equality.

Arnold Clark Team Spirit Awards

Please go to the Arnold Clark Facebook Page and ‘like’  and ‘share’ our nomination for a Team Spirit Award and the chance to win funding for new sports equipment. Thanks to Mrs Logue and the Athletics Team for entering the competition.

Primary 5 Great Scottish Run

Good luck to our Primary 5 children who are taking part in the Great Scottish Run this week. Primary 5 have been working hard to improve their fitness levels by taking part in a ‘daily mile’ run.


Good Luck to our Athletics team who will be participating in a Glasgow Schools Athletics event on Friday 6th October. If your child is in the Athletics Team please remember to provide them with some water and a healthy snack.

Big Noise

There will a Big Noise sharing session for Primary 2 parents on Monday 9th October at 9:15am. All Primary 2 parents are welcome.


This year Halloween is on Tuesday 31st October. Pupils can come to school in non-uniform or fancy dress costume for £1 to raise funds for school trips and outings. Prizes will be awarded to the best costume in each class.
